Is This Course for Me?

Are you stuck in negative parenting dynamics with your child? Do you feel caught in frequent power-struggles? Do you struggle with how to respond to your child who is defiant or shut-down? Are you over-involved as a parent? Unsure how to back away, how to let go, or how to provide the best support as a parent? Do you fear your child can't handle life's obstacles?

This class is aimed at parents of struggling preteens, teens and young adults who may have received some treatment for behavioral, emotional or mental health struggles.

Over the years, parents have told me how much they resonated with The Parallel Process, but did not know how to bring the changes into their parenting. This Parallel Process Intensive is my answer. I walk parents through the process so they can become clear and confident in their parenting again. Parents will come away knowing how to promote their child's emotional growth and maturation.

In this course, parents will work through 10 modules including a one welcome video and ten audios to guide parents step-by-step through The Parallel Process content. Parents will learn how to re-write the parent-child script through emotionally attuning, stepping into their safe parental authority, setting boundaries, allowing safe struggle. This process allows parents to un-enmesh their boundaries, allowing their child to individuate and resume their emotional growth and maturation.

This comprehensive intensive has over 5 hours of video and audio content, journal assignments, daily reflections and action items to bring change into your parenting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Krissy my child never did a therapy program, but is really struggling at home, is this class appropriate for me?

Yes! Parents in the class will be at different places in their trajectory: struggling with a child at home, in home-based therapy, in a therapy program, home after treatment, in college or some type of gap year.  Wherever your child is at, if your child is struggling, parents frequently are getting stuck in negative patterns and dynamics in the parent/child relationship. This class will teach parents how to have a new parent/child script to promote your child's skill development and have new outcomes in the parent-child relationships. It is applicable to all stages listed above.

Krissy my child is away right now at a program, what is the best time to do the class?

The best time to do the class is when you are wanting help. When you are feeling stuck in your parenting. Sometimes the best time to do this work is when your child is away because you have a break from day to day parenting and can focus a bit more on self-reflection and working to build new skills to try with your child via phone calls and visits. That being said, if your child is home, you may want this daily coaching to have support in your day to day struggles, so really it reflects where the parent is at and their readiness to engage in the course and the content.

Krissy will this class help me change my child?

No. The aim of this class is for the parents to put the spotlight on themselves and to do some deeper self-reflection. Typically there has been so much efforting to change the child. Kids feel this. In this class parents will look at the parent growth process, and find their own parenting edge and hopefully be willing to try some new responses and strategies in their parenting. That being said, when parents change, when parents change the home, this will change your parent-child relationship, and I believe you will have new outcomes with your child.

Krissy I am afraid to change, because I don't want to lose my relationship with my child?

Many parents experience fear when it comes to trying new things because they don't want to make things worse. However I ask parents, do you want fear to drive your parenting? Also many parents coming to my books and this class typically are ready for some type of change because things are not going well in the home environment. I will be walking you through all of this in the class, and obviously the parent is in charge of their parenting and what is best for your home, so only make the changes you feel ready for.
